Meet The Team
Wendy Powell Dip PT (Founder)
Hello & thank-you for visiting our website. Allow me to tell you a little about my background: I qualified as a personal trainer in 2001, having spent the previous ten years working in media and advertising. My decision to pursue a future in health and fitness really was life-changing. I went from nursing a hangover with a lucozade & a Marlboro Lite most mornings… to getting up at 5.30am to run, lift weights & study!
I really didn’t look back (apart from over the odd nice glass of red…), & followed my Diploma with extensive personal training experience, & then a decision in 2002 to concentrate my study & focus on pregnant & postnatal exercise.
You can read more on the nuts & bolts of my qualifications & credentials, see the About page for professional & industry recommendations, or go to the Testimonials page to read what a few of our clients have said.
I founded Pregnancy and Postnatal Personal Training Specialists No More Excuses in 2002 and now manage a team of expert trainers throughout London and Surrey, UK. Introductions to my fabulous team are below!
My *really important* role (& most valuable qualification of all) these days however, is as mum to my 2 babies, born October 2005 & July 2007.
After a PCOS diagnosis, lots of acupuncture, two wonderful pregnancies; two pretty horrendous post-partum hemorrhages & a ride in a paramedic helicopter (don’t talk to me about ‘birth plans’…); a few years of breastfeeding & the ongoing adventure that is motherhood, I get it!
Thanks to years of training real pregnant & postnatal women, as well as having plenty of mums/friends to remind me, I also ‘get’ that you probably DON’T get the same kick out of working out as I (usually
) do!
I know that you might NOT think that going for a run or doing some acrobatics on a fit ball is a fun way to fill the kids naptime. And that you find the mention of ‘killer workouts’ ‘bootcamp training’ or ‘kettlebells’ terrifying, not motivating.
Which is why helping REAL expectant & new mums to look & feel fabulous continues to be MY inspiration & motivation for doing what I do.
Thank-you, I hope we can help YOU to look and feel more fabulous as a mum, and I hope you enjoy the blog! Wendy x
I’d Like to Introduce the Fabulous Team of No More Excuses Personal Trainers… You’re in Very Safe Hands!
Francesca Saccone Dip PT
Francesca came to England from her native Italy 13 years ago and embarked in a career in fashion management, but was never fully satisfied with her job. After the birth of her daughter Nicole, now 4 years old, Francesca realised that her real passion lay elsewhere, and decided to follow her dream and become a personal trainer, and a pre and post natal specialist. Since then she has never looked back.
Francesca holds the highly regarded Diploma in Personal Training and Sports Massage Therapist from Premier Global which covers exercise for special populations (including pre and postnatal) and she is registered on the Register of Exercise Professionals, REPs at Level 3.

Sonja Lloyd Dip PT
Premier – Diploma in Personal Training
Fit to Deliver
Burrell Education
After studying in the summer of 2006, Sonja has been personal training clients ever since. The sessions take place in your home (whilst baby is napping, if that’s feasible!) or outdoors in a local park. They tend to focus predominantly on core and functional strength, but can incorporate cardiovascular activities if that’s what you’re looking for.
Following a healthy & active pregnancy, Sonja gave birth to her strapping son (born 8lbs 11oz, with defined quadriceps!) in June this year. Her birth was all she had hoped for & more, with no medical intervention whatsoever required and her recovery particularly speedy. She strongly believes that her fitness & expert knowledge enabled this, in terms of endurance, core strength & general body awareness. She returned to walking & gentle pilates within days of the birth, was back in the swimming pool (and a much stronger swimmer that pre-pregnancy!) within 4 weeks and back in her running shoes at around 6 weeks (albeit at a much slower pace initially!). As a result, her figure has almost bounced back to its pre-pregnancy shape already. She is currently enjoying motherhood far too much to return to work just yet, but is looking forward to meeting with new clients and helping them too, to achieve the birth they wish for & a quick recovery!

Jacqui O’Shea Dip PT MSMA
Jacqui began a life-changing journey into the world of fitness, wellbeing and health in 2003, after years of commuting, stress and a desire to have more energy. After suffering an injury just before running the London Marathon, her inquisitive nature led her to want to know more about safe, effective and ‘real’ training techniques.
Several years later, Jacqui has managed a corporate gym facility, a rehabilitation unit within a chiropractic clinic, and spent many years helping her clients overcome injuries and giving them back control of their health.
Today, Jacqui’s proud to be a No More Excuses’ trainer. She understands the commitment and dedication that’s required to reach weight management and fitness goals, and has an excellent track record of effectively training and developing client abilities. And as a result of her endeavours, she completed the London Marathon in flying colours and injury-free.
“I offer guidance, support and encouragement throughout your training sessions that makes you feel at ease with what can seem like a difficult task. You could call it a genuine service with a smile!”
