Why We’re Different

pregnancy exercise: swiss ball rollOur trainers are experts in core strength restoration, postural assessment and functional exercise before and after childbirth. They offer focused goal setting, expert advice on lifestyle changes and personalised nutritional therapy. Without specialist knowledge of these vital elements of your fitness routine, you cannot hope to achieve your pregnancy & postnatal fitness goals without backache, fatigue, discomfort or disappointment frustrating your efforts. But there’s more to it than that.

pregnancy exercise: walkingMany personal trainers or classes will proclaim to “get your body back” or “boot-camp your postnatal fat away”. We can do all that too, but we also understand that pregnancy and motherhood affects more than just the scales. There’s your self-confidence and self-image, your mental health, stress and energy levels, eating habits and relationships. There’s the hormonal and emotional roller-coaster, the incomprehensible tiredness – not to mention the juggling, the worry that you’re not doing it right, and the guilt trips and value judgments which seem to accompany every pregnancy and mothering decision. It can be exhausting and overwhelming at times.

postnatal personal training: lunge with dumbellsWe understand SPD and backache, the traumatic births along with the so-called ‘easy’ births, and how your birthing experience can affect you both physically and emotionally for months or even years afterwards. We understand the emotional side of things, from feeling like everyone else is coping or looking better than you, to the baby blues and postnatal depression. We do our best to give you the coping skills and the training you need for optimum wellbeing.

We are able to accommodate the needs of mothers in our training sessions, often training with babies and young children present. We know that early motherhood leaves little time or energy for classes or gym sessions, and we know you may be struggling to find (or may not want to use) crèches or other childcare options that allow you to exercise. By coming to your home, fitting around naptimes, feeding schedules or school runs, and not insisting that baby is out of the way, we can help you fit a little ‘you time’ into your week.

postnatal personal training: spine stretchAt No More Excuses pregnancy & postnatal personal training we make it our business to understand your needs on a completely individual level, whether you’ve never exercised before or have been a regular exerciser. We know what you want your body to look and feel like, and we can and will get you there. We also understand what else you’re dealing with.

And that makes us different.
